November 2012 Tip of the Month for Those Taking the ABOG Maintenance of Certification
Fourth quarter is here, so finally a break from all that journal reading. However remember you must have enrolled in at least one practice module each year. If not, that too is grounds to yank your certification, which means you get to start the whole process over again…yep, starting with the primary written then oral exam. Trust me, you do NOT want to go there ever again.
Hey you lucky ones who were the first to enter the MOC cycle in 2008, your luck is just never ending. Congratulations, you get to be the first ones to also take the written recertification exam in 2013! Man, are you lucky! Well, in all seriousness, fortunately (notice I didn’t say luckily) there is a practice written exam of 33 questions on your ABOG home page. They really are easy, but in my opinion, poorly constructed. Let’s hope the real exam is better written.
More to come, but soon you should receive a link to register for the computerized test at a Pearson-Vue testing center. You can take the test anytime between January 1 to December 15, 2013. You can take the exam up to five times. We suggest you wait until the Spring to let them work the bugs out. Better yet, come to our April 17-21 review course for a fantastic review and then take the exam shortly thereafter.

Test Taking Tips
ABOG claims the basis for the written exam is the Compendium. Have you noticed that a quarter of our MOC articles are Compendium articles? So duh, guess what’s important? We have an Annual MOC Manual for each year that compiles a narrative summary of each article plus written test questions. I did mention that you have to take a written exam, right?
