Quotes from our Students

"Dr. Tomlin,  Thank you for your STD lecture back in November. I just wrote my first prescription for PREP!  I work on a high risk area in Anderson, IN. I am the one that asked you about refractory trichomonas. I screen all of my pregnant patients for HIV, Hep B & C, syphilis, and HIV at their initial visit and again around 28 weeks. I have a patient who have polysubstance abuse and just tested positive for Hep C at 29 weeks. She also tested just positive for gonorrhea. When I called to give her the news about the Hep C, I let her know that the high risk behaviors put her at risk for getting HIV and I offered her PREP. She asked questions, which I answered. She then said 'thank you. I never knew that could be done", and asked me to send the prescription in! So thank you for teaching us how easy and how practical it is to prescribe PREP. I will definitely start offering PREP to all of my high risk patients." - DR
